For those of you who don't know me (Roh), when I travel, I like to write a little story on the place that I visit. And the time has come for me to start my stories again.....
Littering is exceptable, garbage bins are just for decorations. when you finish with your rubbish, dump it, - we watched the family who took us in discipline their children for not littering? On a train ride we watched everything that wasn't bolted down and was presumed to be litter wedged out windows or dumped on the floor, then some one would walk past and sweep it all out the door of the moving train? Makes sense doesn't it? ( more on the rubbish topic later however) So we spent 5 days with this lovely family being shown to every one of his friends and relatives, and co workers, in which he would say to us... " it has been my friends life long dream to talk to an Australian, ask him a question..." and to this his friend would stare at the floor or play on his mobile phone clearly not interested in us at all. Then they would feed us, a lovely gesture but ever so painful, we would tell them that rob is a vegetarian, who is allergic to chilli and nuts, if she eats this she will die.... they say yes yes of course and bring back dishes full of chilli and meat and covered in nuts! When id inform them that rob couldn't eat it due to her dying and all, they would wave it off and say oh yes but she can eat a bit of it... To that we would reply no because she will be dead... And to this they would reply but my friend has gone to this trouble to make this for you and he will be offended if you don't eat it, to which we would again reply, but we told you, she will DIE!!!! and of course he would insist oh yes but she can eat a bit of it. (this would often go on for some time but rob is still alive so that means she never ate it) Now it came time for us to depart and not a moment to soon, as we had met almost every living person within an 80km radius of his house. We did enjoy his company thou and he was a very generous host and for that we are glad to of meet him.
Next stop solo, 15hours on a train.... that will be the next installment my friends. Hope you are all doing well and are enjoying the msgs, sorry bout the lack of photos we haven't found a computer that was built after the Cuban revolution yet so when we do we will send them your way
