Bendigo - a quaint little town with soooo much to do!

To be honest, although we were excited to visit Bendigo as it was somewhere new, we were not expecting anything amazing. So we were completely surprised when we realised we hadn't allowed ourselves enough time to properly explore it and see everything we wanted to!!

There is just SO much to do!
The town is just beautiful with mostly traditional old buildings that have been refurbished into funky cafes, shops, restaurants, governments buildings and a fantastic Art Gallery. We spent quite a while just driving around!! After quickly realising we wouldn't have anywhere near enough time to do everything we wanted, we decided to focus just on the Chinese Dragon Museum and gardens, and to plan a return trip soon!!

The museum was great. It was $11 per adult but good value. Even though we have lived in China before so the sight of old Chinese objects isn't overly exciting to us, we spent well over an hour wandering around. The stories behind the Chinese gold miners and their plights was particularly interesting. It's not often that you get a birds eye view into what it would be like to be 2nd or 3rd generation born in Australia, but yet still be seen of as "Asian". It really made us think.

The gardens and temple were lovely as well. Gypsy enjoyed feeding the carp!

Bendigo, we will be back!!

For 2 years (2015-2017) we travelled around Australia as a family of 3 in a motorhome named NED. These are stories from our adventures.
