Places we stayed at and liked or didn't like.

1. Hotel Shelton - Paharganj, New Delhi    :)
Although it is on the main bazaar, and you do get some noise, it wasn't enough to hinder sleep. It is convenient, CLEAN, well
furbished, friendly and has a wonderful rooftop restaurant - perfect for people watching!
2. Hotel the Holiday Home - Tapovan, Rishikesh    :)
Very clean rooms in a quiet area with attached bath and kitchens (no appliances), friendly staff and a yoga study downstairs.
3. Vedic Yoga Guest house - Laxman Jula, Rishikesh    :/
Super clean, big rooms with lovely views over the Ganga. Yoga classes, music classes, massage classes etc. Run by a lovely
and helpful family. But be warned, during off season the lesser experienced brother teaches classes and even though they
are meant to be free, a donation is demanded. Much cheaper rooms available.
4. Nirvan Commune - Pratap Nagar, Uttarakhand state.   :)
    www.nirvancommune.org
More a guesthouse than a commune, nice rooms and helpful staff will look after you and cook for you if you want or you can
cook on your own. Small village with only the necessities. Not much to do except drink chai, go for walks and look at the
    mountains. Beautiful.
5. Satyadeep Guesthouse - Chandigarh, Punjab State.  :)
Clean and comfortable but expensive by Indian standards. Well located and a good option amongst the overly priced
    accommodations in Chandigarh.
6. Tourist Guesthouse - Amritsar, Punjab State.  :)
Beautiful, big, clean, well furnished rooms with attached or non-attached bathrooms. Good and cheap food (although a little
slow) and a wonderful garden to mingle in or just escape the sun.
7. Green Hotel - McLeod Ganj, Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh state.   :/
Clean and big rooms but really overpriced and located on the busiest and noisiest street in McLeod Ganj!
8. Kalsang Guesthouse - McLeod Ganj, Dharamsala, Himachal Pradesh state.   :)
Simple but clean and with verandah and view. Excellent value for the price.
9. Blue sky home Guesthouse - Old Manali, Himachal Pradesh.  :)
It's a little hard to find but if you head up the stairs next to the mexican restaurant (who's name I can't remember right now)
and keep going up and up and up you will find it. Lovely family run place with a big comfy verandah, warm rooms and
     amazing views.
10. Yoga Vidya Gurukul - Talwade, Nasik, Maharastra    www.yogapoint.com  :)
Our Indian home. We spent 4 months studying yoga and volunteering here and we highly recommend it to anyone who is
looking to undertake a TTC in Hatha yoga.
11. Hotel Preetam - Aurangabad, Maharastra  :/
Semi-clean but NOISY.. Right next to the train station and a few good restaurants.
12. Azure Paying Guesthouse - Varanasi, Uttara Pradesh  :)
Clean and friendly family run guesthouse in a super quiet area, about a 2 min (10rupee) rickshaw ride, or a 10 minute walk
      away from Kedar Ghat.
13. Andy's guesthouse - Darjeeling  :)
Clean, quiet rooms with hot water at scheduled times. The owner is lovely and accommodating and the rooftop offers
amazing views of the Himalayas. The rooms are not very sound proof however and would be extremely cold in winter.
14. Dodgy guesthouse in Gorakphur that doesn't rate a mention.
15. Saina International Hotel, Paharganj, New Delhi  :)
On a quiet street one street behind the main road, and away from the noise. Big, clean rooms. Very popular with buyers,
       rather than tourists. Good value.
16. Hotel Vaishnavi, Jaipur  :)
Ok rooms with all the norms. The rooftop restaurant was being renovated when we were there but would be a lovely place
to chill when finished. There are 2 or 3 hotels next to each other all with rooms ranging from super basic to super deluxe
and with equally nice rooftops. You need a nice place to relax in Jaipur.
17. Hotel Om, Pushkar  :)
The rooms are okay, the more expensive have tvs. But you don't come to Hotel Om for the rooms. You come for the
garden. Rooms are surrounding a big garden with water fountains, and even a swimming pool! Super quiet and amazing
views from the roof! Perfect place to relax for a few hours/days.
