Well it is official!!!

Today is our 731 day anniversary of being on the road.

That is 17544 hours, 104 weeks, 24 months......




Or 2 years!!!




Yay for us!!




In the last 2 years we have:

* explored 14 countries:

(Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Mongolia, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Australia, Taiwan)




* taken 27 different types of transport including Horse and Camel




* taken 19 flights




* spent more than 1000 hours on long distance public buses and trains




* stayed in 197 different accommodations




* taken 11447 photographs and videos




* written 26 blogs








* read 64 books




* made countless friends




* been bitten on the bum by a monkey once




* dived in 4 countries




* completed 4 courses




* worked in 4 countries




* sent 6 boxes of stuff home (thanks steph!)




* and spent a combined grand total of: $35700 AUS (plus $5356 for flights paid for by bank interest!)




That is $17850 a year combined




or $8925 a year per person!




or $743 a month




or $24 a day per person (excluding flights)







Not bad!! Only $4 above budget!

We originally wanted to write about some of our highlights from the last 2 years, but we have been to so many amazing countries, seen so many spectacular sights, and had so many awesome experiences that it would be impossible to narrow them down. So instead we have decided to list some of our personal TOP FIVE's. Enjoy!

  3. Riding pushbikes around Bagan exploring 2000 yr old stupas (Myanmar)

  4. Coming face to face with wild Orangutans (Sumatra, Indonesia)

  5. Sunderbans trip with fresh Tiger Paws (Bangladesh)

So on this day, June 16 2010 we are in Jhudong, Taiwan, our temporary home in Country No 14. Where we will be this time next year, nobody knows but with only 14 countries down and a couple of hundred still to go, we are sure we will be having an amazing time exploring some other beautiful part of this amazing planet.
